Indian Food

I ate a lot of chicken and lamb. In India the cow is considered sacred and so no beef was available. I also ate a lot of vegetarian dishes for this same reason. A well known staple of Indian cuisine is curry, which is like a type of sauce.  It would be served over meat or sometimes separately so that you could dip your bread in it.

Korean Food

Korean food comes in many varieties. I had an opportunity to try many new foods while I was in the country. I thought the food would be similar to Chinese food since the countries are very close to each other, but it turns out that Chinese and Korean food are very different!

Viennese Cuisine

Two famous foods in Vienna are wienerschnitzel and strudel. Wienerschnitzel is breaded meat. It is also the national dish of Austria.

Strudel is a type of layered dessert that a sweet filling. Both of these foods were very tasty and I would recommend trying them if you have the chance.

Greek Food

While in Greece I ate a lot of Greek salad, olives, gyros, tzatziki, souvlaki, and moussaka. Greek salad has lettuce, tomatoes, olives, feta cheese, onions, and olive oil. Olives are incorporated some way into every meal. Gyros is a type of sandwich on pita bread with slices of meat, tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki sauce. This sauce is made from Greek yogurt, garlic, cucumbers, salt, and olive oil. Souvlaki is Greece's version of a shish kebab. Moussaka is a type of casserole with ground meat, pasta, and eggplant.

German Food

I ate this in Munich, Germany. Germany in its native language is called Deutschland. A couple typical and iconic foods that are eaten in Germany are sausages and pretzels. The mean came with two different sauces, mustard and another kind I don't know the English name for.

Figs

I got to try a new kind of fruit the other day. I had fresh figs. Home in the States, I have only ever had figs in the form of Fig Newtons. Figs for the most part only grow in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern climates. They are an odd looking fruit and they are very messy to eat.

Gelato

Gelato is a very popular dessert in Italy. There are places to buy it on every corner. It is similar to ice cream, but the way it is made is slightly different. There are also some different flavors that I have never seen in the United States.

Outdoor Cafes

A very popular food in France are crepes. These are like really thin pancakes. The ones I got had Nutella in them. Also, coffee is very popular here. Outdoor seating areas are very popular as well.

Scottish Breakfast

Today I had a Scottish breakfast. It was like an English breakfast except for the haggis. Haggis is a t Scottish item that basically pig intestines mixed with oatmeal and seasoning. It sounds gross, but was actually pretty good!

American Food in Scotland

Today I found a store specializing in American food. There were a variety of items like Pop Tarts, Lucky Charms, and M&M's. The prices were over double what they would cost in the States.

English Breakfast

Today I had a proper English breakfast. There was bacon, eggs, toast, and sausage which is fairly common to the States. What I think separated an American breakfast from an English breakfast were the large mushrooms, baked beans, and the black pudding. Overall I found the meal very good.

Today's Breakfast

For breakfast today I ate banana bread with yogurt at a local cafe. It was very good and quite different from the banana bread and yogurt I've had in the States. I liked the design on the bread.
